Prainha Beach is a secluded and picturesque beach located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Despite its proximity to the bustling city, it is a tranquil escape surrounded by the Atlantic Rainforest of the Prainha Municipal Natural Park.

With approximately 700 meters in length, Prainha, which means “little beach” in Portuguese, is recognized for its crescent-shaped sandy shore and clear blue waters. Its consistent waves make it a favorite spot for surfers, both locals and tourists alike.
The beach is enveloped by high mountains, creating a stunning and serene landscape. Its environment is well-preserved thanks to the Prainha Park, which spans 147 hectares, encompassing not only the beach but also the surrounding Atlantic Rainforest. This preservation ensures that the area maintains its natural beauty and supports local wildlife.
Amenities at Prainha Beach include a parking lot, lifeguards, restrooms, and a few kiosks selling local food and drinks. However, its facilities are intentionally kept minimal to uphold its natural appeal and tranquility.
Due to its remote location and limited parking, the beach is less crowded than more central ones in the city. An environmental education center and several hiking trails can be found in the park, adding to the list of activities for visitors.
