Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a small peninsula located on the French Riviera, situated between Nice and Monaco. A highlight of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is the coastal path, the Sentier du Littoral, which encircles much of the peninsula. One of the peninsula’s most visited sites is the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, a pink Belle Époque mansion built by Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild in the early 20th century. The villa houses a collection of fine art, furniture, and porcelain, while its extensive gardens are arranged in themed sections, including French, Spanish, and Japanese styles.
Other attractions include Paloma Beach, a small pebbled bay that is popular in summer, and the Saint-Hospice Chapel and adjoining cemetery, which sits on a quieter part of the coast and offers views of the sea and surrounding mountains. There are also several public and private beaches, accessible via footpaths or from the water.
While Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat remains associated with affluence, its walking trails, landscaped estates, and preserved coastal environment offer a more subdued experience than other Riviera resorts. Its appeal lies in its combination of natural scenery, architectural heritage, and limited development, making it a distinctive and relatively tranquil destination on the Côte d’Azur.
