Château de Villandry is a grand country house located in Villandry, in the department of Indre-et-Loire, France. Known for its architectural elegance, the château represents the last significant achievement of the Renaissance period. It was completed around 1536 and its ownership changed several times until it was purchased in the early 20th century by Dr. Joachim Carvallo, who dedicated his life to restoring the estate and its gardens.

The Château is renowned worldwide for its intricate and grand gardens, which are laid out in formal patterns created with low box hedges. The gardens encompass several themes including a water garden, an ornamental flower garden, and a vegetable garden, each presenting a mesmerizing spectacle of symmetry and color. The layout is a testament to the Renaissance preoccupation with order and proportion.

Inside, the château offers visitors a journey through history, with elegantly furnished rooms that echo the various epochs of its past. One of the highlights is the Oriental Ceiling in the dining room, a masterpiece from the Spanish-Muslim art period.
Whether viewed for its historical significance, architectural splendor, or its astonishing gardens, the Château de Villandry remains a jewel of the Loire Valley.
