The Peninsula de Formentor is a narrow strip of land located on the northeastern tip of the island of Mallorca. It is renowned for its striking natural beauty, combining rugged cliffs, lush pine forests, and secluded beaches. The peninsula’s most well-known beach, Playa de Formentor, is famous for its clear turquoise waters and white sand. A winding road leads up to the Cap de Formentor, the most northern point of the peninsula. Along this route, there are several lookout points, including Mirador del Mal Pas and Mirador Es Colomer, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and surrounding landscapes.
At the end of the road, the Formentor Lighthouse stands at an altitude of 384 meters. Built in 1863, it’s one of the most iconic lighthouses in the Balearic Islands. Near the lighthouse, visitors can find a small café and further viewpoints.
While Peninsula de Formentor is somewhat remote, it’s easily accessible via car or bus from Pollença, or by boat trips that depart from Port de Pollença. Its dramatic scenery and peaceful ambiance make it a must-visit location for any visitor to Mallorca.
