Costa Meloneras

Costa Meloneras is one of the most modern and upmarket resort areas in Gran Canaria. Situated beside Maspalomas on the island’s southern coast, the area was developed later than nearby Playa del Inglés and was designed with wider boulevards, luxury hotels and landscaped seafront promenades. The atmosphere is generally calmer and more refined than some of Gran Canaria’s older resort districts, attracting visitors looking for a more relaxed holiday environment.

One of the defining features of Costa Meloneras is its long oceanfront promenade which stretches beside volcanic coastline, hotels, cafés and palm trees. The walkway connects directly with the famous Maspalomas Lighthouse and provides excellent views across the Atlantic Ocean, especially during sunset when the coastline becomes one of the most popular evening walking areas on the island. The nearby Maspalomas Dunes are also within easy walking distance, allowing visitors to combine resort facilities with one of Gran Canaria’s most impressive natural landscapes.

The resort is known for its large luxury hotels, many featuring extensive swimming pools, spas and ocean views. Compared with the busier nightlife atmosphere of Playa del Inglés, Costa Meloneras feels quieter during the evening, although restaurants, cocktail bars and live music venues still create a lively atmosphere around the seafront. Outdoor dining is particularly popular due to the area’s warm climate and sea views.

Costa Meloneras also contains shopping centres, designer boutiques and one of the island’s best-known casinos. The surrounding streets are generally clean, modern and carefully landscaped, contributing to the resort’s more polished appearance. Despite the modern development, the dramatic volcanic coastline still gives the area a strong connection to Gran Canaria’s natural scenery.

Many visitors use Costa Meloneras as a base for exploring southern Gran Canaria while enjoying a quieter environment than some neighbouring resorts. The combination of modern comfort, coastal scenery and easy access to the Maspalomas Dunes has helped make Costa Meloneras one of the island’s most popular resort areas for couples and returning visitors looking for a more relaxed side of Gran Canaria.
