Costa Teguise

Costa Teguise is one of Lanzarote‘s most popular holiday resorts, combining attractive beaches, watersports, family-friendly facilities and a relaxed atmosphere. Located on the island’s eastern coast approximately 10 kilometres north of Arrecife, the resort was carefully planned during the tourism development of the 1970s and remains one of the most successful resort towns in the Canary Islands.

Unlike some Mediterranean resorts dominated by high-rise buildings, Costa Teguise reflects the influence of Lanzarote’s famous artist and architect César Manrique. Whitewashed low-rise buildings, landscaped gardens and open spaces help preserve the island’s distinctive character while creating a pleasant environment for visitors.

The resort is particularly well known for its beaches. Several sandy bays are connected by coastal promenades and walking paths, allowing visitors to explore the coastline on foot. Playa de las Cucharas is the largest and most famous beach and has become one of Europe’s leading windsurfing destinations thanks to the reliable trade winds that reach this part of Lanzarote. Other beaches offer calmer swimming conditions suitable for families and snorkelling.

Costa Teguise also serves as an excellent base for exploring Lanzarote. Attractions such as the César Manrique Foundation, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes and the volcanic landscapes of Timanfaya National Park are all easily reached by car or organised excursion.

Although quieter than Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise offers a good selection of restaurants, bars and evening entertainment. At the heart of the resort is Pueblo Marinero, an attractive square designed by César Manrique that hosts restaurants, markets and cultural events throughout the year.

With its combination of beaches, watersports, family-friendly facilities and convenient location, Costa Teguise remains one of the most appealing destinations in Lanzarote for both active travellers and those seeking a relaxing beach holiday.
