Pattaya Beach is the main beachfront area of Pattaya and one of the most developed coastal resorts in Thailand. The beach runs for approximately four kilometres along Pattaya Bay and forms the central focus of the city’s tourism industry. Lined with hotels, restaurants, shopping centres and entertainment venues, it is one of the busiest and most accessible beaches on Thailand’s eastern Gulf coast.

The beach itself consists of a long stretch of sand that curves gently around the bay. While the sand is relatively coarse compared with some of Thailand’s island beaches, the wide shoreline and central location make it a popular place for visitors to relax, swim and enjoy views across the bay. The beachfront promenade is shaded by rows of palm trees and provides a convenient walking route connecting many of the city’s major hotels and attractions.
Pattaya Beach is particularly well known for its wide range of water sports and recreational activities. Jet skiing, parasailing and banana boat rides are commonly available along much of the shoreline, with operators offering equipment rentals throughout the day. Small speedboats also depart from the beach carrying visitors to nearby islands, particularly Koh Larn (Coral Island), which is known for its clearer water and quieter beaches.
Along the promenade, numerous food stalls, cafés and restaurants provide easy access to Thai and international dishes. Beach umbrellas and reclining chairs are available for rent in designated sections, allowing visitors to spend extended periods by the sea. The beach area also becomes a lively place in the evening, as nearby restaurants and entertainment venues attract both tourists and local residents.
The beach is located directly in the centre of Pattaya and can be easily reached from most parts of the city. Songthaews, the shared pickup taxis that operate along Pattaya’s main roads, regularly run along Beach Road and provide an inexpensive way to reach different sections of the waterfront.
Visitors should be aware that the beach primarily valued for its convenient location and lively atmosphere rather than pristine natural scenery. For a quieter beach experience, many travellers choose to take a short boat trip to nearby islands. Nevertheless, Pattaya Beach remains an important part of the city’s identity and a central gathering point for visitors exploring the resort.
